The "dramatis personae" of Prometheus Bound, by the playwright Aeschylus (525-456 BC), is a theme that I have returned to often in my work. The drama's simplicity - featuring a bound Prometheus and a series of sympathizers or antagonists - presents wonderfully clear archetypes of ancient thought and emotion. This series is comprised of portraits of each of these characters (or both as in the case of the pair Might & Force) in a combination of acrylic and oil pastel. With facial expressions and color, I capture the role that each play in the drama.
