Oceanid
This painting is part of my "DRAMATIS PERSONAE" series of portraits depicting the characters from the ancient drama "Prometheus Bound" by Aeschylus (525-456 BC).
Prometheus' first visitors are the daughters of Oceanus, the Oceanides. They offer their sympathies to the prostrate titan, and inquire how he came by this fate. Prometheus describes his history with Zeus, and proclaims the god will one day seek his forgiveness, for Prometheus alone knows how Zeus will be overthrown.
