Inspiration often strikes in unexpected ways. Before creating this series, I happened across a video of a bellowing bull. It suddenly struck me that this sound could be imagined as the only one disrupting the eerie silence of King Minos' mythical Labyrinth. I endeavored to create a painting, and series of accompanying drawings, that depicted the crouched and bestial Minotaur bellowing in its dark and lonely prison.

The simple and abstract charcoal drawings below were done before, during and after the painting of "Tauros." I wanted to explore this theme from several different angles and poses, capturing the unique interplay of human and bull anatomy.
