Hermes
This painting is part of my "DRAMATIS PERSONAE" series of portraits depicting the characters from the ancient drama "Prometheus Bound" by Aeschylus (525-456 BC).
Once it is known that Prometheus possesses the secret of Zeus' downfall, the heavenly and winged messenger Hermes makes an appearance as his final visitor. Demanding the secret and threatening further punishment, Hermes displays the coldness of Might & Force, but with a hint of pitying reason.
