Below is my 2012 painting titled "Diadoumenos", which took inspiration from the sculpture of the same name by Polykleitos. The term "diadoumenos" refers to a victorious athlete knotting a band of honor around his own head. "Diadoumenos", latex paint on canvas, 48" x 30", 2012 A few years back, I was fortunate enough to be able to see an actual Roman copy of Polykleitos' masterpiece in marble at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Roman copy of 430 B.C. original by Polykleitos of Argos, copy ca. A.D. 69–96, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
