- Antony before the mob
Antony before the mob
In Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Marc Antony finds Caesar murdered in the forum, his killers having just washed their hands in the victim's blood. Antony proceeds to shake the hand of all the conspirators, feigning forgiveness - yet marking them all for revenge. Hands still soaked in his friend's blood, he then presents Caesar's corpse to the fickle and chaotic crowd outside. What follows is one of the most powerful speeches in Shakespeare's work.
